Fill in the Blank Friday - Feelings.

1. I feel happy when I do anything that makes me feel alive!  I like to think of myself as a very happy person, and that is because I surround myself with things that make me happy: Jesus, friends, family, my best friend-husband, my son, owls, bright colors, yarn, etc.  There are three things that make me the happiest.  Eating out with friends, having fun with friends (games, silly conversations, watching dumb movies, etc.) and going to amusement parks with friends.  Laughter is a key to happiness and pardon the expression, but I love to laugh!

2. I get silly when I am around certain people...and drink certain drinks. ;)  I love being silly (it makes me sad to think that I'm not as silly as I once was - I guess that's what being an adult and mother has done to me - I shall not make those two things change who I am though - bring on the silliness!).

3. Something that makes me sad is being SO far away from my dear sweet friends and family...who know how to bring the silliness out in me. I would LOVE to hang out with my dearies and just let my hair down and be silly and wild and not care...for just a few hours.

4. Something that makes me annoyed is not being able to be as spontaneous as I would like. I miss the spur-of-the-moment dates (with my husband or girlfriends) and the freedom to go and do whatever I would like without having to schedule it in.  I'm also annoyed with money...or the lack thereof.  I would love to just hop on a plane and go visit all of my dear ones without having to worry about spending money.  Maybe I'll start playing the lottery...and have even less money than I do now.  Nevermind, bad idea.

5. A time that I've been truly surprised was Five times come to mind.  1) When I found out Peter was interested in dating me.  2)When I found out I was pregnant (we had gotten married between the dating and the pregnancy part - fyi).  4) When I received Viking tickets for my birthday 5) When we lost our house.

6. I am so thankful for Grace!  When I get all whiny and I complain, He is there to reassure me that He will never leave me nor forsake me, even when I don't treat Him right.  I love that about Him, and I try not to take that promise for granted.  I'm also grateful for friends who stick by me no matter the distance or length in time since we last connected.

7. I feel loved when people want to hang out with me and give me gifts or surprise me with anything (yes, I'm needy and I'm admitting that one of my love languages is gifts - so embarrassing).

Comments

  1. This is cute. I'm exactly the same as you on number 7. I find my gift love language embarrassing too. The upside is that I give really great gifts ;) I bet you do too

  2. I'm actually horrible at giving gifts...which makes me feel even worse that I have that love language...guilty is more like it. Haha!

We are His portion and He is our prize...

I've had this song in my head for a few days now. I love Kim Walkers voice and the passion that she portrays in this song. McMillan did a wonderful job in writing this song, the lyrics are so profound and encouraging and...different (the "sloppy wet kiss" part makes me smile). I especially love the first part of this song...

He is jealous for me,
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realize just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.

I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realize just how beautiful You are,

And oh, how He loves us so,
Oh how He loves us,
How He loves us all

Yeah, He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves …

My favorite flower. The peony.

The peony is my favorite flower. They have always held a special place in my heart. For as long as I can remember, they've grown in my childhood backyard. My mom has a plant from the house I was born in, their current house - the house I grew up in - and a plant from my Great-Grandma. As kids, we would watch in awe as the ants crawled over the peony buds, almost willing them to open. It was a chore getting those little suckers off once the flowers were ready to be cut and brought into the house. But it was worth the effort.

My dad has always commented that the flowers smell like old lady perfume. Haha!  I still think of that when I bring the blooms up to my nose for a whiff of Spring. They're such a romantic flower. I wanted them for my bridal bouquet, but they had already stopped blooming by the time June 3rd rolled around. So sad.

Apartment living was dreary for me when it came to flowers. No lilacs, tulips or peonies. When we moved to our current house, I was …

Be Still, My Soul. Remembering...

My first post of 2014.

Looking back on my last post, I'm overwhelmed with many emotions. It was the last post before our world was turned upside down, before the cold weather hit hard, before doctor visits became our norm. Before Halloween, Thanksgiving, my 30th birthday, Christmas and New Years. Looking back at the title of that post, I'm struck with how appropriate it was for the rest of the year. I tried to blog a few times since October 13th. But I never got to the point where I felt like I could publish. I had a million and one thoughts constantly tumbling around in my tiny mind. Writing helped to unload it, but just like it is with my trusty old dishwasher, there's always dirty dishes to take the place of the clean ones and I found myself overwhelmed and overcome with both good and bad...clean and dirty. My brain has felt like mush since October. Add holidays, getting sick, taking care of sickies, being the strong one, being the brave one, being the hea…
